HEX-PRINT CARGO JACKET
R.Newbold is a British workwear brand with roots dating back to 1885, originally known for producing durable, high-quality garments like utility jackets, trousers, and uniforms — designed with function and longevity in mind. The label had a strong identity in traditional British craftsmanship and workwear aesthetics.
In the 1990s, the brand was revived through a unique and now highly regarded collaboration with Paul Smith, one of Britain’s most iconic fashion designers. Paul Smith — known for blending classic tailoring with quirky, modern details — took the heritage of R.Newbold and reimagined it for a younger, street-savvy audience.
The Paul Smith x R.Newbold line became a cult favourite in Japan, where it was exclusive to the Japanese market. It fused British workwear and military inspirations with a distinctly Japanese streetwear sensibility. Think utility vests, camo prints, boxy silhouettes, contrast stitching, and unexpected colour pops — all tied together with Paul Smith’s signature playfulness.
This jacket seemingly takes inspiration from some of the oakley software ski jackets from the 2000s. The jacket is constructed from nylon, with a polyester lining, and has multiple pockets throughout, with pit zips, adjustable hood and hem, and a hexprint fabric all over.
