In the 1990s, the brand was revived through a unique and now highly regarded collaboration with Paul Smith, one of Britain’s most iconic fashion designers. Paul Smith — known for blending classic tailoring with quirky, modern details — took the heritage of R.Newbold and reimagined it for a younger, street-savvy audience.

The Paul Smith x R.Newbold line became a cult favourite in Japan, where it was exclusive to the Japanese market. It fused British workwear and military inspirations with a distinctly Japanese streetwear sensibility.
