RACING JACKET (GEN 1) (BLACK W/ GOLD IRIDIUM LENSES)
In 1975, Oakley was founded by genius creator Jim Jannard. The company would start by selling motorcycle accessories - created from a rubber material that was created to provide a solution for when wet rubber would loose traction. Oakley would move into creating eyewear in 1984, with the first release of the 'Factory Pilot Eyeshades'.
Fast forward to 1998, where the brand would release the ‘Racing Jacket’. Designed by @peteryeedesign, with a sports application in mind, The RJ features a unibody construction that was unlike any sunglasses produced at the time. The frame has features with aerodynamics in mind, with sleek curves & ventilation holes for better air flow. The massive XYZ optic lenses are 65mm in diameter for greater eye protection from the elements. The nose & ear-socks are made from Oakleys signature Unobtanium, which grip the face in any conditions
“Adrenaline is the paramour of velocity, and our New Racing Jackets? are designed for those wide-eyed moments when the world roars by in a continuous blur of speed. The Racing Jacket lens geometry offers a range of peripheral vision unrivaled by our other dual-spherical lenses, providing you maximum visual clarity for those high-G assaults on common sense. And when your instinct for self preservation kicks in, our vented, hingeless frames will prevent fear-induced fogging, and Unobtanium® nosepieces and earsocks will keep your optics securely attached--even when your connection to earth is more ephemeral.”
In great condition with some small fading to the Oakley script.
