SS2000 RASO GOMMATO PARKA JACKET

Stone Island was founded by legendary designer Massimo Osti, in 1982. Osti set out to revolutionise fashion, and used SI to focus on researching & experimenting with dyeing & fabrics.

The brand originally worked on casualwear pieces that drew heavy inspiration from military and workwear, and started with the creation of the infamous ‘Tela Stella’ fabric. Stone Island is instantly recognisable by its rectangular badge, featuring a compass that was designed to symbolise a love for the sea & constant research.

In 1994 Osti would stop designing for the brand, and British designer Paul Harvey would become his predecessor (1995-2007). Harvey took a more technical approach to Stone Island, and would reference classical silhouettes to create pieces with utility & newer fabrics.

One of the standout fabrics from Stone Island’s archive is Raso Gommato — a military-grade cotton satin that has been coated with a polyurethane finish. The result is a fabric that combines a sleek, rubbery appearance with water and wind resistance, giving garments a distinctive structure and futuristic look. Raso Gommato reflects the brand’s core ethos of merging function with form.

This parka jacket is from the Spring/Summer 2000 collection, and features unique adjustable reinforcement to the hips. two dump pockets at the hip with button closure, and the signature stone island badge on the left arm.

In good condition with minimal signs of wear to the exterior. Inside liner has some wear but cannot be seen when worn
